April 11, 1936 ~ November 10, 2023 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Georgette "Jackie" Roeges Obituary

On November 10, 2023 Jackie passed peacefully with her family by her side at the Baldur Health Centre.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Kim (Daryl) and her son Doug (Debbie); her four granddaughters Rachel (Lee), Amanda, Erin (Ted), and Brooke (Jared); and great grandchildren Sawyer, Miller, and baby Fluerar.

She also leaves behind her sisters Rosena and Mary; brothers Fred (Shannon), Larry (Karen), and Bob (Darlene); sisters-in-law Doreen, Gerarda, and Maria (Bob); her niece Dianne (Scott) who she was especially close to, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Frank, her parents Bertha & Camiel Andries, parents-in-law Irma & Karel Roeges, her brothers Lorne, Andy, and Leo, and brothers-in-law Germain and Tom.

Mom was born April 11, 1936 in Greenway, Manitoba, the 4th of 9 children.  She married Frank on June 7, 1959 and they moved to the farm in Baldur where they lived until they retired to town in 2000.

Mom worked hard on the farm, working with the animals, growing and canning fruit and vegetables, and keeping a home for her family, along with all the many other tasks of a farm wife.  Her and Dad had an active social life, bowling, dances, and curling in the winter.  Growing up it wasn’t unusual for there to be people around often, bowling in the summer and playing cards in the winter.

When her and dad moved into town, she took it in stride, tending to her garden and home, and spending time with family whenever possible.  She visited almost daily with her sister Rosena who lived across the street.  When Dad went into the Personal Care Home Mom visited almost every day until he passed in 2017.

She loved watching her granddaughters grow, always cheering them on in whatever endeavor they were pursuing.  She spoiled her grandkids and was only too happy to accommodate their requests.  They remember tea and bread, honey toast, and ice cream, and when they got older, she made sure they all knew where the drinks were and that they were welcome to them.

Mom/Grandma will be lovingly remembered for the wonderful cooking, terrible singing, and her “tell it like it is” attitude, along with all the other wonderful memories of her that we hold dear.

We would like to thank the homecare staff, and the staff at the Baldur Health Centre who took such good care of Mom in the last two years.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Friends that so desire, memorial donations can be made in Jackie’s memory to the Baldur & Area Endowment Fund, Box 40, Baldur, MB R0K 0B0 or to the Volunteer Enrichment Group c/o Debbie Roeges, Box 183, Baldur, MB R0K 0B0.

We will miss you Mom but are forever grateful of our time with you.  Hope you and Dad have your dancing shoes on, two stepping and being together again.
