Georgina May (King) Booth

Sadly, on Sunday, June 9, 2024, Georgina May Booth passed away peacefully at the age of 97.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Henry Kaethler in September 1997 and by her second husband, (Charles) Kenneth Booth in September 2012. Georgina was also predeceased by her father, Charles Edwin King, her mother, Mary Elizabeth Caroline King, her brothers, Arden (Mary) King, Norman (Jean) King, her sister Ruth (John) Shepherd, sister-in-law Olga Derksen, brother-in-law John Kaethler, nephews Allan King, Daniel Derksen, niece Linda Mcphail, stepdaughter Karen Dague. Left to cherish Georgina's memory are her children, Randy (Pam) Kaethler, Ron (Joanne) Kaethler, Allan Kaethler, and Darryl (Sue) Kaethler; sisters-in-law, Pauline Janzen, Elaine Kaethler, brother-in-law Rudy (Dorothy) Kaethler; stepchildren, Debbie (Lyn) Kemp, Roxanne (Lee) Girardy, Ken (Linda) Booth; grandchildren, Cathy, Kayla (Justin), Kristen (Clint), Miranda, Shannon, Tyson (Samantha), David, Jessica, Joseph, Zaia; great-grandchildren, Adia, Hayden, Luna, Tegan, Vince, Wilder and also many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and numerous friends.

Georgina (Jean) was born January 11, 1927 in Glenboro, Manitoba, and was always very proud of her prairie roots and continued to visit there until her health prevented her from doing so. Jean and her first husband Henry, were married in 1951, divorced in 1993. Jean worked for Eaton's for many years as a customer service representative. Jean was an active member of Elmwood Legion, branch #9 and continued to enjoy her outings to bingo and shuffleboard, particularly after retirement from Eaton's. Jean also enjoyed her many outings to the Concordia Adult Day Club while she was able. When Jean met Ken, her life changed dramatically and her and Ken were married in June, 1994. Ken introduced Jean to many new facets in her life and she was never happier. Jean and Ken were active for a couple in their 70's and well into their 80's, curling, golfing, slow pitch, lawn bowling, bowling and shuffleboard. Jean and Ken would spend many weekends at their trailer on the Lee River and they both really enjoyed the many travels they did by car all over Canada and the southern USA.

When Ken passed away in September 2012, it was particularly hard on Mom. She had found her true "Soulmate" and best friend at a later stage in life, but often said, "Better late than never at all". We were all glad that Mom and Ken had the time together that they did. They certainly enjoyed life together. Mom loved her family dearly and nothing made Mom smile more than her grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they visited.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and health care aides at the geriatric ward of Seven Oaks General Hospital for their expert care and compassion they showed to Mom in her final weeks. We are all grateful.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00am at the Glenboro Cemetery with Sharon Hamilton officiating.  Following the burial, a reception will be held in the C.E. Building.  Everyone is welcome to attend.
