It is with great sadness that the family of James Donald Gordon Kippen announce his passing on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre at the age of 79 years.
Jim was born in Carman Manitoba on February 18, 1946 to Gordon and Donalda Kippen.
Jim began his education at the Boyne School near Carman until the family moved to Neelin Manitoba. During this time he attended Neelin School, Huntly School, and Belmont High School. After moving to Glenboro Jim entered Glenboro High School until he went to work at the Municipal Hospitals in Winnipeg.
Jim married Marilyn on October 25, 1968 and they lived in Winnipeg while Jim worked in construction. While living in Winnipeg Wanda and Douglas were born.
The lure of country life and farming were too great and in 1980 Jim purchased the family farm in Glenboro. Besides farming Jim was an active member of the community.
While on council in the R. M. of Argyle Jim held positions on the Glenboro Hospital Board, Killarney Vet Board and the Argyle Welfare Board. He also served as president of the Glenboro Lutheran Church council for a term.
Jim was a wonderful husband and a devoted father. The pride he has for his children was unsurpassed. Wanda’s work ethic and inquisitive mind led to many stimulating conversations while milking the cows. Jim also coached Doug’s ball team and he also took Doug to Saskatoon a couple times to hockey school.
In 1998 Jim purchased the John Redekop farm in Fork River. Here he raised cattle and worked at the Fork River Ag. Site. After selling the farm Jim and Marilyn retired in Dauphin.
Jim leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Marilyn (nee Pelto), daughter Wanda Sime (Michael) of Fork River, MB, son Doug Kippen (Crystal) of Brandon, MB, grandchildren Patricia (Scott), Page (Ryan), Robbie-Lynn, Rachel (Logan), Michala (Adam), Dalen (Desiree), Shanley, Natasha (Mason) & Kaden and five great grandchildren.
