Katharine Taft Obituary
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Katherine Purvis "Kathie" Taft (nee Hall) of Glenboro MB at the Health Sciences Centre on Sunday December 9, 2018 at the age of 68.
Predeceased by her much loved husband Arni Raymond Taft & daughter of the late Charles & Norma Jane Hall, Kathie leaves behind to mourn her death her three sisters Marnie McNiven (Doug) of Winnipeg, Barbara Abrams of Mississauga ON, Patricia Garner (David) of Collingwood ON; nieces Kristen McRae and Margo Sims, nephews Paul & Aaron Abrams, Scott McNiven and Jay & Matthew Garner & families, as well as sister-in-law Bev (Bob) Weinard of Prince George B.C. & brother-in-law Gerry Taft also of Prince George B.C.
Kathie was born on May 19, 1950 in Glenboro MB where she grew up and lived her entire life with the exception of her university & early teaching years. She will be remembered by many as their favorite teacher when she taught in Carberry & Glenboro Schools. She was a natural born teacher.
Kathie enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She enjoyed golf, fishing & hunting and especially her crafts, gardens and baking. You knew a holiday was approaching by the decorations in her yard.
She is fondly remembered by all her nieces and nephews and their families for her game playing, craft sessions, baking and holiday gift packages. Kathie made an art of letter writing which was loved by all who were lucky enough to receive one.
The family would like to thank the staff at CancerCare Manitoba & the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre for their care & dedication given during Kathie's illness.
A gathering of family & friends will be held on Saturday April 27, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Raystone Memorial Centre, Glenboro MB, to Remember & Celebrate Kathie's life. Everyone is welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kathie's memory to the Glenboro & Area Foundation, Box 147, Glenboro MB R0K 0X0 or to CancerCare Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
