Kathleen "Kae" Boyd (nee Lewis) of Wawanesa MB, passed away at the age of 99 years on Thursday May 2, 2019 at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home
Kae leaves to mourn her passing her son Dean (Brenda), 3 grandsons: Sean (Julie), Brendan (Dana), Patrick (Kerby), 4 great grandchildren: Estella, Rory, Oliver & Zoelle, as well as sister-in-law, Mary Lewis.
Kae was predeceased by her husband Milford, a baby son in infancy, parents Evan & Catherine Lewis, sisters Gwen Lewis and Sybil Lewis, as well as brothers Pryce (Erma), Frank, Clive (Dorothy), Dean, and Alfred.
Kae was born February 6, 1920 at home on a farm a few miles south of Medora. She moved with her family to the Pollock place north of Medora. Then in the depths of the depression the family moved two kilometres down the road to "The Big White House". She married Milford Boyd in October of 1943. Kae and Mel had a son, Dean in 1946, and lost their second son in infancy in 1950. They farmed south of Lauder until 1949 when they purchased a grocery store in Lauder. In 1950 they moved to a farm one mile west of Lauder. Here they lived for 40 years until 1989 when they retired to a house in Wawanesa. Mel died in 1991.
Kae was a tireless worker who was always helping others, boarding men, milking cows or driving a school bus to make ends meet. She was a regular church goer and supported all community events. Mel and Kae loved to travel. Their travel included trips to California, Florida, Las Vegas, Hawaii, and many trips to Victoria. After Mel died she hooked up with great friends from Wawanesa and took bus trips throughout North America. Kae lived on her own in a house on Water Street until 2013 and spent the next five years in a seniors apartment. She moved to the Wawanesa PCH in May of 2018.
Kae Boyd lived a full and rich life and will be missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Kae's life will take place on Tuesday May 7, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the Wawanesa United Church.
