Kathleen 'Kay' Coultes Obituary

With mournful hearts, we announce the passing of Kay Coultes in the early morning hours of October 8th, 2025, age 85.

Kay was pre-deceased by her sister Lynn, and parents Jack and Sarah.

She is survived by her children Scott and Donna; grandchildren Brian and Kristen (David); great-grandchildren Sophie and Jacob; and sister Joan.

Kay was born in Souris MB on September 2nd 1940, the middle child of 3 daughters. She spent the majority of her life on her beloved family farm at Noble Lake. A lifelong farmer, she had great pride in her cattle, her home and her land.

Kay greatly enjoyed country music and went to many concerts that came to the area.

Over the years, she traveled to destinations all over North America like Graceland, the Alamo and Yellowstone. She had a passion for classic cars, which became a birthday tradition to take her to the car show in downtown Brandon and ice cream early every September. She loved Nascar and figure skating.

She also took great pride in her home and garden, spending hours every summer with her flowers and yardwork, mowing and planting all the way down her long lane.

She had a great compassion in her heart for animals. Whether it was an abandoned calf, an injured turtle or the delight of fox kits taking up a den in the barnyard. She took in several stray cats that wandered into the farm and cared for them as close companions.

Kay loved family get-togethers, she never missed a birthday party for her great-grandchildren and always brought a homemade dish for holiday meals. She was sure to send a birthday card, right on time, no matter how old the recipient.

Kay lived a full and healthy life, near to those who loved her dearly. We are proud of her resourcefulness, hard work and thoughtfulness. She will be greatly missed.

The family will be holding a private service to honour and celebrate Kay.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly request donations in Kay’s memory to the Humane Society, 2200 17 St E, Brandon, MB R7A 7M6.
