Passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday December 27, 2023 at the age of 57 years, Lawrence Arthur Lannoo, of Glenboro, MB.

Lawrence was born in Winnipeg on October 23, 1966. He and his family moved to Cypress River in 1976 where Lawrence made the transition from city to country life. Lawrence pursued his interests of journalism and filmmaking through formal education, including but not limited to a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Government from University of Manitoba (1989), Bachelor of Arts cum laude from University of North Dakota (1991), a Masters in Communication and Media Studies from University of North Dakota (1993), a Certification of Excellence in Film/Video and Photographic Arts from the Vancouver Film School (1997), and a diploma from Herzing College for Radio and Television.  

Throughout his life, Lawrence sought to inform the public and challenge their perspectives through his independent films, his articles, and his creative writing. For the past several years, he has written a popular op-ed column in the Glenboro Gazette titled “City Shadows, Prairie Sky” which brought him immense pride as the community engaged in discourse and debate. Lawrence leaves to mourn his passing his mother Shirley Lannoo of Cypress River, MB, sister Cheryl Shumay of Brandon, MB, nieces & nephews Christine, Mykel, Eryka & Matthew, former brother-in-law Ken Shumay as well as extended relatives & numerous friends.  Lawrence was predeceased by his father Arthur Lannoo.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 10:30 am in the St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, Holland, MB, with Father John Te Nguyen as Celebrant.  Reception to follow in the Holland Community Hall.
