Celebration of Life ~ Lloyd Murray
On Thursday, September 25th, in the early hours of the morning and with his beloved wife, Marquetta (nee Hailes) by his side, Lloyd William Murray of Wawanesa, MB passed away. In his final days, Lloyd was surrounded by his loved ones - including his three children, Bill (Caley) Murray, Christine (Ed) Martens, and Melody (Trent) Cullen.
Lloyd was born on October 26, 1940 in Hamiota to Lawrence and Jean (nee Longmuire) Murray. He is predeceased by his parents, two older brothers - John Murray and Robert (Marie) Murray, in-laws Norman and Christine (nee Baron) Hailes, brothers-in-laws Freddy and Warren Hailes, sister-in-law Sandy Hailes, three grandsons - DJ, William, and Mitchell Van Den Bosch, and his nephew - Lawrence Murray.
He leaves behind his grandchildren - Paige (Dylan) Thornborough, Mackenzie (Cory) Martin, Sydney Wallis, Carter Murray, Payton Murray, Ethan Cullen, Danny Cullen, Krystal Van Den Bosch (Brian McDowell), Chantell Reville, Jess Van Den Bosch, Megan McBain (Lindsey Vernon), Morgan (Adam) Hopcraft, and Murray McBain, 13 great grandchildren - Mara, Goldie, Scottie, Brayden, Dustin, Lilly, Howie, JD, Domanik, Linkoln, BeeJay, Harlow and Sybil, as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in law, extended family, and friends.
Lloyd leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and humour. Whether it was sneaking his favourite pup, Chance, treats from the table, the way he looked at Marquetta, or the way his eyes lit up when he saw those he loved - it was clear that Lloyd loved fiercely and unconditionally.
While he was a quiet man, his quick wit and sense of humour were well known in the community he called home - he was even cracking jokes in his final hours.
To know Lloyd was to love him and to love him was a great honour of his family and friends’ lives. Those lives that he’s touched will forever be grateful to have been in his orbit and will always carry the memories and lessons with them. Lloyd wanted those he loved to “enjoy life”, and for him - they will.
A Celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held in the Wawanesa United Church on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Garnet Hodges officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held in the Wawanesa Hall. Private family interment will take place in the Wawanesa Cemetery.
Lloyd loved to play cards, so those who wish to can make a memorial donation in his memory to the New Horizons Centre, ℅ Box 195, Wawanesa, MB, R0K 2G0.
