Funeral Service ~ Mabel Dowd
Passed away at the Glenboro Personal Care Home on Thursday April 27, 2023 at the age of 104 years, Mabel Dowd (nee Dalzell) of Glenboro, MB.
Mabel was born to Alfred and Florence Dalzell on December 14, 1918. She attended Wikton School until she was eleven and then attended Rosehill School. She received a scholarship to continue her schooling but had to quit school after grade eleven to work.
She married William Dowd on October 4, 1939. They raised four children on the family farm southeast of Glenboro; Edwin (Lorraine), children of Ed and Florence: Kim (Kent), Debbie (Michael), Kevin (Amanda) and Ed’s son Brian (Lisa). Norman (Linda), children Angela, Jeff (Lisa), Melissa (Mark). Linda (Stan) Odut, children Steven (Shelly), Kathie (Lance). Sharon (Russ) Routledge, children Sandra, Paul, Shawn. Nineteen great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She loved them all unconditionally and her face would light up every time they came to visit her.
Mabel loved having her family gather. She loved the cooking, noise and laughter having many people in their small house involved.
In her younger years, Mabel worked at the Senior home in Glenboro. She was very active in Rachel Rebekah #12 Lodge and the UCW.
Mabel was predeceased by her parents, her three brothers Gordon, Orville and Albert and her two sisters Irene and Alice, her daughter-in-law Florence and her husband of sixty years Bill.
Mabel’s family would like to thank the staff at the Glenboro PCH for the loving care she received while a resident there.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 2, 2023 at 2:30 pm in the Willmor Chapel, Glenboro, MB, with Sharon Hamilton officiating. Interment will take place in the Glenboro Cemetery.
