Marlene Audrey Snyder

Marlene Audrey (Roney)Snyder passed away peacefully on at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at the age of 93.

She is survived by daughter Karen from Texas & son Greg of Quensel BC, grandchildren Tamara, Richard, Patsy & David, seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.

Marlene was predeceased by her parents Richard & Mae Roney, brothers Bill and wife Ainsley, Morley and wife Jean, Clayton & Barry and wife Connie and son- in -law Gaylan.

Marlene was born April 19,1930 to Richard & Mae Roney in Wawanesa.  Marlene began her working career at the Banff Springs Hotel in Banff AB. where she ran the switchboard a job she loved.  She then went on to a career with Manitoba Telephone System as an operator a job she was very proud of retiring in 1991, finishing her career in Dauphin, MB.

Marlene loved her family, she truly had a love for all animals especially birds, horses & dogs. She also loved to travel over the years with many memorable trips to Texas, Mexico, Hawaii, Bahamas, Nashville & the odd trip to a casino.

Marlene lived in Dauphin until summer of 2017 when her health required her to move to the Wawanesa Personal Care Home.

We wish to thank all staff at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home Staff, Dr. Lee & Vicki Wenger NP for their care & compassion over the past few years, you are all amazing, so dedicated & passionate…..you all were like her family.

As per Marlene’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 31 at the Wawanesa Cemetery with Shirley McBurney officiating.
