Mona was born October 7, 1932, growing up in the Greenway area as one of ten siblings. As a young woman she left to work in Winnipeg but her life took another direction when she married Leo in 1954. They moved to the farm in Cypress River where together they farmed and raised their 5 children. Mona was 47 when she started her second career as a homecare aide. She was a born caregiver and made many friends over the next 25 years. Mona’s favourite things were spending time with her family, taking care of her grandchildren and her garden. She busied herself baking and canning. She always had an ice cream treat in the freezer, cookies on the table and a pie or two for dessert. Mona was a hardworking caring, giving and independent woman until the very end. Mona/Mom told us, “My work is done, it is now my time to rest”. We love you and will miss you.
