Surrounded by her family at the Tiger Hills Health Centre on Sunday December 22, 2019, at the age of 82 years, Nellie DeGraeve, formerly Henry (nee Bocek) of Holland MB.

Nellie's life will be forever cherished by her son Dan Henry (Darcy Penner) of Holland, MB, daughter Laura Henry (Roy Rodrigues) of Oshawa ON, brother Peter (Julie) Bocek of Fisher Branch MB as well as extended relatives & friends including her dear nephew Troy (Nancy) Moorehead of Carberry, MB. Nellie was predeceased by her parents Adolph & Paraska Bocek, sisters Mary (Doug) Neighbour, Anne (Dave) Rutledge and Alice (Ken) Moorehead.

Although Nellie was proud of her career as a teacher (Lavenham & Rossendale), a business owner (L & Nell's Drive-In Restaurant in McGregor), and a cook at the Hollander Hotel, her most treasured times were with family and friends. She was inspired by her parents' focus on hard work and the value of education and both guided her throughout her life. Nellie will be remembered for her love of spending time with her children, family and close friends. Favourite memories include stopping in to Dan's to watch him fix old cars and bikes, and visiting Laura and her husband Roy in Toronto. Nellie had a quiet but avid sense of humor and enjoyed classic old time comedies and sharing or hearing a good (clean!) joke. She loved playing cards, doing crosswords, going for coffee, cooking, vegetable gardening and the occasional trip to the casino.

Nellie firmly believed that life is for the living, and asks dear friends and family to celebrate happy memories, live every day, and ‘give themselves a hug' from her. While we are saddened by her passing and she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on forever in our hearts.

A Graveside Service was held on Wednesday September 1, 2021 at the Rossendale Cemetery with Sandra Rex officiating.
