Patrick Brian Trotter was born in Wawanesa Hospital on December 15, 1976 to Brian & Sheila Trotter of Belmont, MB.

He received his education, K-9 at Belmont School.  In 1994 he graduated from Glenboro Collegiate.  He registered at the University of Manitoba and was awarded his Diploma in Agriculture in 1996.

Having a yen for working with metals he saved enough money to go to Red River College.  In 2003, he graduated with a Diploma in Industrial Technology and worked with Dynamic Metals in Winnipeg for a year as a machinist.

For the remainder of his life he used his knowledge to fix things and make whatever he desired out of metal wood and other medium.  “You Tube” became his “go-to Advisor”.

When Patrick was 23, he hired on with a crew to custom combine in the United States.  This was a learning experience for all of them.  Sometimes they weren’t fed until afternoon.  Patrick tells of Rob, a crew member who was accident prone.  Rob was driving the combine ahead of Patrick as they moved to another location.  They had to drive over a hill, Patrick saw Rob go and as he watched, he saw a hydro pole disappear.  Patrick looked down and saw Rob’s combine smashed against the fallen hydro pole.

In the fall, Patrick worked for Arnold Bros. hauling all over the U.S.  He later went hauling with Paul’s Hauling out of Brandon.  Shortly after, he became an owner-operator when he bought a his own Mack Truck & trailer.

From an early age, Patrick, like his dad, loved shooting.  He won many trophies and at the age of 14, won the Provincial Junior Shotgun Trophy.  Patrick also liked making guns.  He made them by hand, shaping the metal parts with a file or using the lathe that he made.

As time went on Patrick would travel the world with friends.  He and three friends planned a hike up the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru including a trip on the Amazon River.    It was tough walking up that trail.  Sometimes pathways on the cliffs were only two to three feet wide.  They endured hardships together and it bonded their relationship forever.

Patrick met Carly Mitchell and they took an amazing trip throughout Europe.  Later Patrick and Carly and family settled on an acreage near Selkirk.  A year later, Patrick was diagnosed with cancer and after two and half years of fighting it courageously, he succumbed to his illness.  He passed away in Selkirk hospital on October 16, 2021.

Patrick leaves to mourn his partner Carly Mitchell, children Braden Langon, Kaeleigh Langon & Drew Harrison, father Brian & mother Sheila Trotter of Belmont, MB, as well as numerous extended relatives & friends.

A Graveside funeral was held at the Hillside Cemetery, Belmont, MB, on Saturday October 30, 2021 with Sandra Rex officiating.  John Molnar and Marcie Chen were urnbearers and Leo Baskatawang delivered the Eulogy.  Bagged lunches were handed to those upon leaving the cemetery.  Patrick’s many friends throughout his short life had honored him in a sincere heartfelt way.
