Passed away at the Glenboro Health Centre on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at the age of 73 years, Roger James Elliott of Glenboro, MB.
Roger was born on July 19, 1952 in Glenboro, Manitoba to Douglas and Dorothy (Rogers) Elliott. Roger grew up on the family farm, the youngest of four siblings, where lifelong values of family and community were instilled into everyday life.
In 1978, Roger married Melba Lockhart. Together they built a life with their four children. They liked to go camping and fishing as a family. They spent a lot of time in the rink as the boys were all involved in hockey. Roger was involved in many different ventures including working at Elliott’s Flowershop and owning Elliott’s Diner.
In 2007, he married Marcy Tully and they blended the families together. As time went on, Roger and Marcy’s family grew to include 17 Grandchildren and one Great Grandson who brought them so much joy. Roger and Marcy enjoyed travelling to hot holidays and more recently an Alaskan cruise. He loved to find fun wherever he went and wowed everyone with his skydiving video from a trip to Cuba.
In retirement Roger enjoyed golfing, landscaping and refreshments on the deck with his family and friends. Although he always insisted he didn’t like cats, one day a little fluff ball found her way into his heart. He enjoyed snuggling with his Meekah and found great joy in her antics.
Roger’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids. He spent countless hours cheering them on and coaching them from the sidelines. Hockey, baseball, volleyball, dance, it didn’t matter the sport, if his grandkids were there, so was he.
Roger leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Marcy of Glenboro, daughter Monica (Leon) Perehudoff of Radisson SK, sons Doug (Lorrie) of Baldur MB, David (Melanie) of Glenboro MB and Michael (Joslyn) of Glenboro MB. He also leaves step children Kris (Ursula) of Rapid City MB and Krystal Fisher of Oshawa ON. Grandchildren Peyton(Alison), Carter, Emily, Ashley, Elliott, Madelyn, Ryan, Logan, Jacob, Marlee, Sawyer, Fletcher, Brice, Connor, Kamrin, Catrina & Zachary, as well as great grandson Alexander;
Sister Evelyn (Wayne) Black, sister in-law Dawn Elliott, brother in-law Terry Black and Roger’s special cat Meekah. He will also be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and a very large extended family.
Roger welcomed everyone fully into his heart, never recognizing ‘step’ or ‘in-law,’ only family. Family, to him, was defined by love, not titles; every child and every spouse belonged completely.
Roger was predeceased by his wife Melba (2004), parents Douglas & Dorothy, brother Ivan and sister Margaret.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Glenboro Cemetery in Roger’s honour at a later date in the spring.
Memorial donations can be made in Roger’s memory to Cancer Care Manitoba,
