Shannon Myers was born on March 17, 1962, the first of 4 sons to Elwood and Donna Myers (Holmes).
Shannon was raised on the farm on the edge of the town of Belmont, MB. Brothers, Scott, Clark and Lee joined the family in the next few years, all growing up working on the family farm and playing hockey, baseball and many other sports.
He bought the Dalik farm in Belmont, renting it out for many years, until 2023. He worked on farms all over Manitoba before settling in Moosomin Sask., working on a cattle/horse farm, operating with Donnie Ferguson. Later years, saw him doing carpenter work with his good friend, Dale Flynn.
Shannon was in Moosomin for about 25 years, finally semi-retiring, moving back to Manitoba in 2023 and buying a condo in Village Green Apartments, close to his parents, Elwood and Donna. Never one to sit very long, he worked part time at J & G Lumber, while volunteering as a dog walker with The Brandon Humane Society,
Not one to travel very far, he surprised everyone by wanting to go to B.C. this past spring, so he and Lee spent a week catching up with family in Vancouver through to Penticton.
While he planned on enjoying retirement life and his new home for many years, this was cut short as he died suddenly on Wednesday December 4th, 2024. Funeral service was held in the Belmont Community Hall on Monday December 16, 2024.
Interment Service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Hillside Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the Belmont Community Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.
