Passed away at the Tri Lake Health Centre, Killarney, MB, on Friday July 2, 2021 at the age of 73 years, Robert “Bob” James Mason, of Ninette, MB.

Bob was born on January 30th, 1948, to Jim and Vida Mason of Ninette Mb.  He had one sister Velma.  He attended Ninette School and Killarney Collegiate Institute. During school Bob enjoyed football season and ended his “formal” education one fall after football season came to a close. He then attended Assiniboine Community College where he graduated as an Auto Body Technician and went on to spend his career in the auto body field, operating most of these years out of Mason’s Auto Body Shop in Ninette restoring and customizing antique and classic vehicles. Ninette was where he lived and worked almost his entire life.

Bob is survived by his beloved son Scott and daughter in law Elizabeth, Sister Velma (Don) and nephew Tim McAdam of the Pas.  He was predeceased by his first wife Peggy (1997) and later his second wife Valdyn (2018) and by his parents Jim and Vida Mason.

Bob was very active in Ninette Community affairs and spent 58 years on the Ninette Volunteer Fire Department, the last several as Fire Chief.  He was also an active participant in the Vintage Cruisers Car Club and spent many satisfying hours with Scott and their friends doing whatever it is they do when they meet around cars.

Cremation has taken place.  Due to Covid restrictions, services are limited to a family graveside service on Saturday July 10, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Ninette Cemetery with Beth Clark officiating.

However, friends, car club & fire department members are welcome to pay their respects from or near their vehicles along the procession route to the Ninette Cemetery.  The funeral procession will proceed from the Mason’s Autobody Shop on Main St, then to PTH #23 & enter through the fairgrounds & continue on to Lake St. enroute to the Ninette Cemetery.   Members of the Ninette & other area Fire Departments will assist with traffic flow & parking.  Social distancing in effect.
